The band met at a hot dog eating contest where one of them (undisclosed) got the silver medal. Very proud of his achievement, the lucky winner went on to chat with other contestants. One thing led to another and Intensive Care was born. So was their dirty, gritty love affair with Rock'n'roll.
Their sound is distinctly founded in alternative rock, but interwoven with pop feelings. If you feel like digging deep enough, you may even find a hint of jazz harmony and chipmunk electronics. With each member coming from a different musical background, the band mixes genres to create a unique alternative sound without borders.
In 2006, they were featured on the New Music Canada Hotlist as one of Canada's young bands to watch for.
In 2007, after a long recording and mixing process - that took place in the dark and smelly basement of a meat-packing plant - they released their first 5-track EP, titled 2805. It was launched on May 16th at Main Hall in Montreal. It is now sold through online and retail stores throughout Canada and the world. The EP received positive reviews, and Hour called it "a success".
The band is now working on new material and playing as many shows as humanly possible. Rock is an elusive lover so they're making sure they don't let it out of their sight.... |
